The KeenviewG2 is the 2nd generation of Olympus Soft Imaging Solutions high resolution and high read-out speed bottom-mounted TEM CCD camera system. The KeenviewG2 is part of our G2 SERIES, our new TEM camera line-up – for best in speed, sensitivity and dynamic range. This fiber-optically coupled 14-bit camera sets benchmarks with its finely balanced concept of electronics, optics, design and functionality. The KeenViewG2 is equally convincing users in the bio-medical, life sciences, materials science and semiconductor field.
The highly sensitive 2/3” interline CCD image sensor used in the KeenviewG2 provides effective pixels of 1392 x 1040 pixel. The resolution of the camera is 1376 x 1032 pixels with 14-bit dynamic range (16384 grey values). The pixel size of the CCD chip is 6.45 x 6.45 µm² (effectively 23,5 x 23,5 µm²).
The KeenViewG2 camera system couples a high sensitive phosphor scintillator with the CCD chip using unique fiber optics. This innovative approach provides the user with a welcome price/performance advantage. In order to match customers’ individual demands various scintillators can be customized for several accelerating voltages (100 keV / 200 keV). The CCD chip architecture guarantees extremely high anti-blooming. Individual pixels are clearly distinguished. This in conjunction with the extremely short exposure times optimizes the acquisition of diffraction images. In conjunction with the highly sensitive CCD chip and the optimized scintillator, this ensures high sensitivity and efficiency.
Flexible frame rates
The KeenViewG2 supports frame rates of more than 25 images per seconds at 2x binning and of 15 images per seconds at full resolution. This high frame rate is ideal for locating suitable sample segments directly onscreen. Several binning mode are supported by KeenViewG2. The users can select between modes of 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x binning. This means sensitivity can be increased even more. The interline transfer chip uses an electronic shutter which neatly sidesteps any possible mechanical problems. The KeenViewG2 offers exposure times ranging from 100 µs to 160 seconds. This is a fundamental prerequisite for being able to acquire images of either intense illumination or of very low intensity.
Thermal noise (“dark current”) is not a problem with the KeenViewG2 due to a sophisticated Peltier-cooling system which regulates the temperature of the CCD chip at 10° C (25° C ambient temperature).
