Human Resources - Applicant Management


Finding suitable employees pretty much sums up my daily routine at OSIS. I am in the Human Resources department where I'm essentially in charge of applicant management. I am the primary contact person where advertising vacancies (online and print) and selecting applicants are involved. I do this for both external as well as internal job vacancies. I write the job description texts with the person in charge of the vacant position, organize the ads (online and print media), sort through the incoming applications and pass them on to the corresponding departments to be processed. Depending on the decision, I invite applicants to interviews or have to issue a rejection - unfortunately. This is definitely the most disagreeable part of my job.

I do enjoy selecting the trainees. We make preliminary selections to start things off. The young people applying for trainee positions are invited to visit OSIS so they can see what they're getting into. Then we conduct personal interviews and go through some selection exercises to find the ideal candidate. This has worked out very well for us thus far. It's also particularly satisfying to see that a number of those who used to be trainees are now regular OSIS staff.
